So recently got myself a PSP 3000 (silver) as part of the GT entertainment pack. Unfortunately I did something stupid (upgraded PSP to Sony’s Official PSP 6.10 Firmware).
Uurrrggh!!!
You’re probably thinking… It cannot be that bad… well it is… apparently 6.10 is plagued with problems… And one of these major problems is being able to connect to Sony’s own server for game’s update or Playstation Store. (This is where my post really begins). I email PSP support… skipping ahead into the email conversation.
ME:
The error is “Communication with server failed. (80560003)”
The connection fails after it has received the ip address from my router. But I know the wifi works because I can surf the internet with this wifi connection. I have also tried another wifi connection and it produces the same problem.
On a side note, I get the same error sometimes while accessing the PlayStation Store sometimes. This did not happen when I was using the firmware 5.03
PSP Support:
We apologize for any inconvenience with the connection issue with the PSP®portable entertainment system.
Please power cycle your network equipment as follows:
1. Unplug the power cord to your modem & unscrew the coaxial cable attached to the side of it. Unplug the power cord to your router as well.
2. Let those sit for a full 2 minutes before plugging them back in. Be sure to plug them back in the reverse order this time.
3. On the main menu go to < Settings, < Network Settings, < Infrastructure Mode. Choose “Easy”. Save the settings. Test the connection.…
WTF!!! being in my industry i know the crap above does nothing when there is no problem with the connection in the first place. Plus I did specifically did say that I tried from two different wifi connections. What a waste of time…
Well the 6.10 update also means I cannot mod my PSP for a long long long time… and all my games will be purchased… *sigh*
